Magwa falls

"The only way to conquer fear is to face it head on"

Last night we went for a walk on the beach and watched a local soccer match. Who needs TV when you have live entertainment!

This morning we woke up early and had our coffee. We took a slow walk to the beach and walked around the lagoon. It was a bit deep and muddy in some places so I was worried about a bitey thing attacking me. We got through it unscathed though!

After a quick breakfast we packed our lunch and headed off to Magwa Falls. It was rough driving but wow it was worth it. We drove through grass to get to the edge of the cliffs and I got out to take photos.

It was a bit nerve racking walking back through the grass. New Zealand has no dangerous animals so I'm not used to constantly being on the look out for poisonous snakes!

We swam in the river and ate our lunch then decided to walk around to the other side to get a good view of the waterfall.

It was absolutely amazing! The falls are at least 100m high and there are no barriers or any kind of security as there would be in other countries. Even Mark was cautious which is very unlike him! Usually he bounces around from rock to rock but he could see the ground was unstable in some areas. We had such a great morning there. There was no one else around and it was so quiet and peaceful.

When we got back to our campsite a woman was waiting for us with a huge bowl of fresh oysters! We had a couple each with tabasco sauce and put them in the fridge. We have made friends with another couple here so we will save the rest for our braai tonight!
