Shark's Point

"It's not the destination but the journey it takes to get there!"

Today we woke up early and as soon as it was light we got up and made coffee. We then made our lunch for the day and had scrambled eggs for breakfast.
After we had cleaned up we were ready to head off for the day. We got our bait from the deep freeze and started walking. It was pretty hard going, but we stopped along the way for breaks. We had fishing gear, a cooler with ice and our lunch in it, tackle box and picnic basket. Up and down hills and along rocks, it was a spectacular walk with incredible scenery.

There were two goat tracks and we went between both of them trying to find the best route. Big grassy hills and lots of rocks. I'm glad I have been doing pilates because I used my core a lot to get through some parts!

We saw goats hanging out on the rocks enjoying the sea view.

Luckily Shark's Point was a lot closer than we originally thought and even walking slow we got there in an hour.
There is a small bridge to get across to the point. Mark hops, skips and jumps across like a billy goat but I was down on all fours crawling across.

We put a fishing line but didn't catch anything. Wrong tide and the water was dirty.

It looks so much like New Zealand here - except for the rondavals on the hillside. I'm not sure if the photo will show clearly, but it is a dead giveaway that I am definitely not in NZ ;)
