Next Stop: Coffee Bay

Today we set off for Coffee Bay! Somehow we took a wrong turn and ended up on a dirt road for over an hour! It was hard going and the road condition was terrible in most places but we got to give heaps of sweets out to the kids along the way. I was wondering why there were so many kids around compared to other places we have been, then Mark pointed out it was Saturday!

Coffee Bay looks a bit like Mount Maunganui when you drive in

Coffee Bay is a tiny town with a little shop and a bottle store. We went to the shop to get ice and there were heavy burglar guards up inside. We are staying at the campsite here but there is a backpackers near by which seems to be quite busy.

It was beautiful when we arrived but we heard it was going to rain in the afternoon so we started our fire early - about 3pm. We got some crayfish from the locals when we arrived so we were excited to eat it. As soon as we started the fire the rain set in and pretty much didn't stop. It was very cold at night and I put my jeans, socks and hoodies on just to try and keep warm.
