Silaka nature reserve

We sat and had our morning coffee watching all the birds around. Everyone was busy and we enjoyed all the activity. There were Egyptian geese, Hardydahs, Honeysuckles, doves cooing, Wagtails and Hornbills! So many different kinds of birds! Still didn't see a mole though! Later at the beach we saw a Kingfisher dive and catch fish. I didn't get any photos of the birds so all I have is one of a normal goose.

While we were eating breakfast enjoying the view when we heard a car horn toot, then screeching tyres, then an almighty crash across the river! There is only one road in and out of Port St. John's so we took our time getting ready to give it time to clear.

We then set off to find a fishing spot for the day. We forgot our bait and Mark forgot his fishing permit so we got a temporary one for him at the Post Office. It was quite busy so I waited in the queue and Mark went to find bait. I enjoyed listening to the old ladies chatting away in Xosa so I didn't mind waiting in line.

No dogs on the beach, but you can take your cows!

Eventually we found bait and got advice on where to fish. The water is dirty due to heavy rain the past two nights so we ended up coming to a nature reserve to catch Cob.

Tonight we are going to have dinner in the restaurant. They have a wood pizza oven that they only use on weekends, plus it is Friday - Date Night! So we thought we would go try their pizza.
