We were so excited about the backpackers last night we decided to stop and have breakfast there. We had homemade muesli and yoghurt, gorgeous homemade jams and we also had a plate of scrambled eggs! This was the most I had eaten for breakfast this whole trip, but everything was so fresh and beautiful I had to try everything!

We dropped Tia off at work. She is working at a little boutique backpackers called Stone Cottage which was built in 1910 and was the first holiday home in Plett and is still owned by the same family. She showed me some amazing old black and white photos of that time! It would have been such an adventure to travel back then. The photos showed the people traveling with ox and carts and I just love the old clothes they wore!
Once we dropped Tia off, we came over the Outeniqua Pass towards Oudtshoorn.
It was a very scenic route, big mountains and deep valleys and also like the Desert Road in some areas. Very dry and also in desperate need of rain. They had lots of Aloe growing in the fields too. The Western Cape is very much like New Zealand – Clean, well-maintained towns, and the roads were great too! Much better than the dodgy Transkei roads that is for sure!
We stopped at The Old Mill restaurant for an Ostrich Burger. It even had an old mill that the restaurant was built around and stunning grounds including a hotel and wedding venue.
We arrived in Oudtshoorn and are staying at the Cango Mountain Lodge, which was the cheapest campsite so far. It is 20 km out of town and very quiet. We picked a spot near the river and we also have a table, which makes things easy. We love being away from the hustle and bustle and always stay in as much nature as we can.
